| Abergavenny knew they were in for a tough game when Swansea University
arrived at the ground with a coach-load of players before the majority of
the Abergavenny team had even left their homes. |
||
| However it was Abergavenny who got off to a flying start, pinning Swansea
in their own half for the first ten minutes and peppering the goal with shots. The pressure soon told as Anthony Clements eventually turned on his radar and slotted the ball home. |
||
| Abergavenny kept pushing on and it wasn't long before Clements grabbed
his second. The home side then looked to be cruising as Kevin Phillips and
Tom Miles fed in some excellent crosses for the energetic Nigel Sanchez. Swansea made a few changes to their formation and begun to enjoy some success in winning a couple of short corners, from which they scored from the first hit strike. |
||
| The second half was a very close affair but the defensive unit of Geraint
Jones, Darryl Gooden, Andy Banks and Peter Hewinson stood strong and keeper Martin Brown only had a couple of good saves to make. |
||
| Fitness took its toll towards the end of the game, and Abergavenny might
have paid the price but for the tireless running of Tom Griffiths who shared
Man of the Match with Clements. Thanks to their efforts the game finished 2-1, ensuring Abergavenny got off to a perfect start. |
||
| This week Abergavenny are away to Penarth A hoping to continue their 100% season. | ||
